The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, says the President is “deeply” concerned over the abduction of teachers, pupils, and students in Oyo State, assuring that efforts are underway to secure their safe return.
Gbajabiamila made the remarks on Sunday during a visit to Ogbomosho, Oyo State, where he led a Nigerian Government delegation to meet with community leaders and families of victims abducted from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School on May 15, 2026.
According to him, President Tinubu has issued necessary directives and mobilised security agencies to ensure the rescue of the victims.
The delegation was made up of top government and security officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa.

Gbajabiamila assured families that the government fully understands their pain and anxiety, adding that every effort is being made to bring the victims home safely.
“Mr. President is deeply troubled by this incident. Whatever it takes, our children and teachers will be brought back home safely. He has issued all necessary directives and is providing every support required by our security agencies to achieve that objective,” he said, according to a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
He also conveyed the President’s assurance that the rescue operation would be carefully coordinated and intelligence-driven, combining both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.
“Your pain and anxiety are understood. By the grace of God, your children will return safely to your arms,” he added.
Gbajabiamila further noted that although some parents had called for caution in the rescue efforts, the government would ensure that all operations are professionally handled to avoid endangering the victims.
President Tinubu has also approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards as part of broader measures to strengthen internal security following the incident, which has drawn widespread concern.
