United States President Donald Trump has said the long-anticipated agreement to end hostilities in the Middle East is expected to be signed on Sunday, adding that it could lead to the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump suggested that the agreement would immediately trigger the reopening of the vital waterway to global shipping.
“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump said.
He further claimed that the United States would take custody of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile for destruction, describing a process that would involve neutralising the material at a later stage when conditions stabilise.

“At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust, buried deep under the powerful sunken granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 Bombers and their brilliant pilots, and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States,” Trump said.
“We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future.”
Trump also expressed optimism that the arrangement would progress smoothly but warned that alternative measures remained available if the agreement failed to be implemented as expected.
“Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly,” the US president wrote.
“If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!”
However, Iran’s foreign ministry, according to state media reports, indicated earlier that the agreement would not be signed on Sunday, signalling a possible disconnect between both sides over the timeline.
Throughout the negotiations, Iranian authorities have maintained that the country retains its right to enrich uranium.
