President Donald Trump pitched renaming artificial intelligence to terms like “superior,” “extreme,” or “supreme” intelligence on Saturday while launching a new “AI Force” to shield the sector from critics.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump accused opponents of seeking the “decimation, or destruction, of AI” and vowed to protect data centres and industry expansion.
“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it as it grows!”
Trump posted, adding that his proposed AI Force and an upcoming “AI Czar” will police bad actors rather than slow technological growth.
He dismissed warnings from industry experts and former researchers—who caution that unchecked AI poses existential risks—labelling safety concerns a “hoax.”
The US President argued that strict regulation would forfeit leadership to China, asserting that the only necessary safety guardrail remains a “STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT.”
Trump’s full-throated endorsement comes despite public resistance to energy-intensive data centres and broader economic pressures ahead of the November midterm elections.
Closing his social media push, Trump invited the public to vote on a new moniker for the sector.
“This is a poll, and I would appreciate everybody voting! Which is the best name for this ever-growing ‘Revolution?'” he asked, presenting “superior intelligence,” “extreme intelligence,” and “supreme intelligence” as his top choices.
