The Association of Resident Doctors at the University College Hospital (ARD-UCH), Ibadan, has suspended its three-day warning strike and directed members to resume duty immediately on Thursday, October 15.

The association announced the resumption in an official memo jointly signed by ARD-UCH President Dr Uthman Adedeji and General Secretary Dr Mary Awodiji following resolutions reached during an Emergency General Meeting.

The strike action, which began on Monday, stemmed from a persistent electricity crisis and chronic water shortages affecting the hospital’s College of Medicine campus.

The resident doctors are demanding the immediate restoration of power, urgent repairs to faulty backup circuit breakers, and a continuous, uninterrupted electricity supply across every section of the health institution.

While members have returned to their posts, the association emphasised that the management still faces a seven-day ultimatum expiring on October 19.

ARD-UCH warned that congress will monitor progress closely over the coming days and could launch an indefinite strike if management fails to resolve the power and water infrastructure demands before the deadline.
