United States Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation, the White House confirmed on Monday.
White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly confirmed Driscoll’s resignation when asked about a Wall Street Journal report on his departure.
Kelly praised Driscoll’s performance, saying he had played a key role in advancing President Donald Trump’s agenda at the Department of the Army.
She credited him with providing leadership during major military operations, strengthening the Army’s focus on readiness and combat capability, and contributing to diplomatic efforts between Russia and Ukraine.
“Driscoll has been highly effective in advancing President Trump’s agenda to Make America Strong Again at the Department of the Army by providing outstanding leadership during historic military operations, restoring an emphasis on readiness and lethality, assisting with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and more,” she said.
The circumstances surrounding Driscoll’s resignation were not immediately disclosed, although reports had pointed to tensions between him and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
