The US Defence Department issued an updated list of Chinese companies that allegedly aid Beijing’s military, targeting giants such as Alibaba, Baidu, and BYD.
This move could reignite tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
The Pentagon unveiled these designations just weeks after President Donald Trump met Chinese leader Xi Jinping to stabilise bilateral relations.
Trump even invited Xi to visit Washington this September.
This new version reinstates two memory chipmakers, ChangXin and Yangtze Memory Technologies, which officials had previously removed.

The update also adds pharmaceutical company WuXi AppTec and robotics start-up Unitree to the blacklist.
House Select Committee on China Chair John Moolenaar called the list a warning to American businesses.
He urged US companies to stop dealing with these national security threats to avoid fuelling China’s military growth.
