Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, says the Allied People’s Movement (APM) will not engage in electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 elections but will firmly resist any attempt to be edged out through manipulation.
He spoke on Thursday at the Bauchi Government House during the affirmation of party candidates for various elective positions in the state.
Mohammed said the party would approach the elections with seriousness and would treat all opponents as formidable contenders, regardless of age or status, stressing that the focus would be on selling its record and achievements to the electorate.
He added that while the party would not support or encourage any form of rigging, it would also not tolerate any attempt to deny it victory through fraudulent means.
“We are not going to underestimate our competitors. Even if a child born today is a candidate, I am going to deal with him like a grown-up person,” Mohammed said.

“It is a new game entirely. We are going back to the people to sell our credentials and what we have done. We will not urge anybody to rig for us, but we will not allow anybody to rig us. This is our policy.”
The governor also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process, noting that acceptance of results would be guaranteed where elections are conducted fairly and justly.
“If we win, we will accept it. If we lose, we will accept it, especially where there is transparency, justice and equity. That is democracy,” he said.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, Mohammed said the meeting also featured the presentation of Yakubu Adamu, Commissioner for Finance, as the party’s governorship candidate, alongside Mahmood Abubakar as his running mate.

He further confirmed that he had been endorsed by the party as its senatorial candidate for Bauchi South, describing the development as part of efforts to strengthen internal unity and broaden the party’s support base ahead of 2027.
Mohammed, who recently joined the APM, urged members to remain committed to building what he described as a stronger and more prosperous future for Bauchi State.
