Mustafa Bello, a former minister of commerce, assumed the role of Zenith Bank chairman on Tuesday, succeeding Jim Ovia, who retired after 12 years in the role.

Bello’s appointment didn’t come as a surprise, given that he was already serving as a non-executive director at the bank before stepping into the role of chairman.

The new Zenith Bank chairman brings years of experience across public and private sector roles, with a strong background in leadership, economics, and business
