Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has said his administration will not negotiate with bandits and will sustain military operations until they surrender or face prosecution.

The governor’s Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Musa, conveyed the position on Sunday at the inauguration of the Association of Zamfara State Indigenes Residing in Kaduna Secretariat.

“The governor will never negotiate with bandits. Those willing to surrender should do so or face the law,” Musa said.

He said the government would continue to provide logistics, equipment, and other support to security forces and sustain offensives until peace is restored.

Musa urged residents to report suspicious movements to security agencies.

At the event, the government donated N5 million to the association. The association also distributed food items to vulnerable members.

Association chairman Garba Balarabe said the secretariat would serve as a centre for unity and welfare.

He appealed to the government for support to acquire a permanent office.

Zamfara Commissioner for Environment Abdulrahman Tumbido noted that many indigenes had relocated to Kaduna due to insecurity but expressed optimism about the return of peace.
