Atalanta Takes Aim at Serie A Summit in Clash with Milan

Atalanta are riding high as they prepare to face AC Milan on Friday night, aiming to claim the Serie A top spot for the first time this season. Currently second, just a point behind Napoli, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has emerged as genuine title contenders with their attacking prowess and record-breaking form.

A win against Milan would mark Atalanta’s ninth consecutive league victory, equalling their best-ever streak set in 2020. It would also place them in pole position, at least until Napoli face Lazio on Sunday.

With 36 goals this season, Atalanta leads Serie A in scoring, a testament to their thrilling attacking play under Gasperini. This form is a continuation of their rise, highlighted by last year’s historic Europa League triumph. The current squad blends seasoned talents like Ademola Lookman with fresh faces, creating a dynamic capable of surpassing past achievements.

The match comes ahead of another high-stakes game, as Atalanta prepares to host Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Milan, sitting 10 points behind Napoli with a game in hand, arrives at Bergamo in decent form, having scored 12 goals across their last three matches. The Rossoneri will rely heavily on Tijjani Reijnders, their standout midfielder, who has netted seven goals this season.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan face Parma at the San Siro, their first match since Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove’s traumatic collapse last weekend, which halted their previous fixture. Fiorentina, who host Cagliari, continue to await updates on Bove’s condition as he remains in intensive care.

As Serie A heads into a crucial weekend, Atalanta’s clash with Milan could mark a defining moment in their quest for an unprecedented Scudetto.
