Priscilla Ojo has spoken out to dispel rumours that her Tanzanian husband, singer Juma Jux, lost his store to a fire during the recent wave of protests in the country.
The unrest broke out on Thursday as residents flooded the streets to protest alleged irregularities in the recently held presidential election.
Tensions escalated following the exclusion of President Samia Hassan’s two main rivals from the race — a move that has sparked widespread criticism from citizens and human rights organisations. These groups have repeatedly accused Hassan’s government of tightening its crackdown on opposition figures, activists, and journalists.
The speculation surrounding Juma Jux’s business began when an X user, Bolaji Fesomade, claimed that the musician’s store had been completely destroyed. Fesomade alleged that the store, “valued at a staggering $780 million,” was set on fire and completely destroyed by angry residents protesting.
He wrote: “Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters. The violence erupted after yesterday’s tense presidential election which sparked chaos and unrest across several parts of the country.”
In response, Priscilla took to Snapchat to refute the viral claims. She confirmed that the store had indeed been attacked but clarified the situation with a short message that read: “Looted 
Burnt
”.
She did not provide further details regarding the extent of the damage or the value of the goods taken. Jux himself has yet to issue a public statement on the matter.
