Three suspects were on Tuesday arraigned at Ejioku Magistrate Court in Lagelu Local Government Area, Oyo State, and remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre for allegedly attacking officials of the Oyo State Fire Service while on duty.
The fire service personnel were assaulted by hoodlums looting valuables at the scene of a fire incident in Ibadan.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, stating that it occurred at Atari-Agbon in the Oki area of Olodo, Lagelu Local Government Area. An officer injured during the attack was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Providing an update on Tuesday, Akinwande said three individuals had been arraigned over the assault.
“Three people were arraigned at Ejioku Magistrate’s court at the early hours of today (Tuesday) for assault of fire officers at Oki. They were also charged with conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. Three were arraigned, while others are at large. They are currently remanded at Agodi prison. The case is adjourned till March 12, 2026,” he said.
