Legendary music executive Clive Davis is dead. He died at at his home in New York after battling respiratory problems. He was 94.
Davis is regarded as one of the most influential figures in rock and pop music history.
He will be remembered for signing and shaping the careers of artists including Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Santana, Janis Joplin, Christina Aguilera, and Alicia Keys, among many others, during his tenure at Columbia and Arista Records.

In a statement, his family described him as a “relentless legend” who was committed to excellence.
“To the world, our father was the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and relentless pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives,” the statement read.
“He discovered, mentored, and championed some of the greatest artists in modern music history, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will endure for generations.
“To his family, Clive was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the centre of our lives, the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love.”
