Kenya Investigates Presidential Web Breach

Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy launched an investigation on Saturday into a cybersecurity incident that targeted the president’s official website.

The government’s ICT Authority first detected the breach and immediately activated emergency response protocols, temporarily restricting access to the platform to contain the threat.

Tech teams have already implemented mitigation measures and are currently restoring the website to full operation.

Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo Gitau confirmed in a statement on X that the ministry has found no evidence of unauthorised access to sensitive data, data exfiltration, or information loss.

He assured the public that all other government systems and digital services remain completely secure and functional.

The ICT Authority is now collaborating with state agencies and technical partners to conduct a forensic investigation to identify the origin of the cyber incident.
