African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 is preparing to welcome more than 10,000 delegates to Cape Town from October 12 to 16, bringing together governments, investors and energy companies for five days of talks, project showcases and investment discussions.
The conference is expected to strengthen its position as a major meeting point for Africa’s energy industry, with participants drawn from across the continent and international markets. Organisers say the event will focus on advancing energy projects, building partnerships and attracting capital across oil, gas, power, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
Government representatives from the United States, Europe, Japan, Venezuela, Russia, the Caribbean and Asia are expected to participate. Major energy companies including ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, bp, Chevron and ConocoPhillips will also attend, alongside technology companies such as SLB, Technip Energies and Halliburton.
African governments will use AEW 2026 to present investment opportunities and outline their energy priorities. Ministers and officials from countries including South Africa, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Namibia and Niger are expected to address delegates.

Country-focused sessions will examine Nigeria’s plans to increase oil production and revive idle wells, Namibia’s progress towards first oil, Mozambique’s LNG expansion and Senegal’s gas-led industrialisation strategy. Discussions will also cover Equatorial Guinea’s Mega Gas Hub, Ghana’s production ambitions, Algeria’s 2026 licensing round and Angola’s Gas Master Plan.
AEW 2026 will feature investor forums, technical sessions, ministerial discussions and project presentations across several platforms. The programme will cover upstream exploration, energy finance, downstream development, electricity, artificial intelligence, data centres and digital infrastructure.
The event will also include a dedicated Deal Room, where project developers can present energy and infrastructure opportunities directly to investors and lenders.
African Energy Chamber Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk said the gathering is intended to move beyond discussion by connecting capital with projects and supporting agreements that can advance Africa’s energy sector.
