Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has said that winning the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League with the German side would mean more to him than retaining his recently won Ballon d’Or.
The England captain made the remarks on Monday during a press conference ahead of Bayern’s Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
Asked whether he would give up the individual accolade in exchange for the European title, Kane told reporters he would choose the Champions League.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner described the award as one of the most memorable moments of his career but said lifting the Champions League trophy with his teammates would bring a different kind of satisfaction.
He explained that celebrating such an achievement alongside his Bayern colleagues and the club would make the experience particularly special.
“Last week’s Ballon d’Or was one of the best feelings I’ve had in my life, in my career. It was a really special award and a special night for me.
“But having moments with the team, having celebrations with the team, with the club, being able to lift the Champions League with Bayern would be simply an incredible feeling,” he said.

Kane nevertheless expressed hope of securing both honours, saying he believed he had the opportunity to achieve the two ambitions at Bayern.
His comments reflect his long pursuit of major team trophies, having spent most of his career at Tottenham Hotspur without winning a major club title.
The striker joined Bayern in August 2023 after 19 years at Tottenham, where he became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances.
He came close to winning the Champions League with Tottenham in 2019, when the London club lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the final.
Since moving to Germany, Kane has added domestic silverware, including the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup, but the Champions League remains the major trophy he is yet to win with Bayern.
His 2026 Ballon d’Or award followed an impressive 2025/26 season in which he scored 73 goals for Bayern and England, helping the German club secure the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup.
He became the first English player to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001, finishing ahead of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal.
Bayern’s trip to Atletico Madrid presents another opportunity for Kane to advance his Champions League ambitions, with the 2026/27 final scheduled for June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
