A former aide to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who has been linked to a kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of an eight-year-old boy, had already been suspended from his government position, the Katsina State Government has disclosed.

Nura Aliyu Garwa, identified as a suspected mastermind of the syndicate, was serving as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development before his suspension.

Garwa was suspended for allegedly diverting empowerment materials meant for communities in Batsari Local Government Area under the state’s Community Development Programme, according to a statement released on Monday by Bala Salisu Zango, the Katsina State Commissioner of Information and Culture.

The government disclosed that Garwa later indicated interest in contesting a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly to represent the Batsari Local Government Area.

Governor Radda described the syndicate’s activities as unfortunate, expressing dismay that someone with a public profile and political ambitions could be tied to such serious allegations.

He also praised the Katsina State Police Command and other security agencies for their ongoing work in combating insecurity across the state.

The Katsina State Police Command recently paraded suspects allegedly connected to the kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy at Sardauna Estate in Katsina metropolis, with the former aide to the state governor named as a key figure in the syndicate.
