Algeria secured a 2-0 victory over Senegal in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations opener in Rabat following a late second-half mistake by the Senegalese goalkeeper.

Captain Marine Dafeur opened the scoring for Algeria in the 42nd minute by converting a contested penalty after a VAR review confirmed contact in the box.

Senegal pushed for an equaliser in the second half but failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
