Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rescheduled the National Assembly primary elections in Zamfara State.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced this development in a statement issued on Saturday.
The revised timetable covers the conduct of primary elections for various offices and appeals arising from the exercise.

APC RESCHEDULES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRIMARY ELECTION DATES IN ZAMFARA STATE
The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby announces the rescheduling of dates for National Assembly Primary Elections in Zamfara State as follows:

According to the new schedule, the House of Representatives primaries will now be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, in Zamfara, while Senate primaries are slated for Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The House of Assembly primaries will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, followed by the governorship primary on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The presidential primary is scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2026.

The party also released dates for primary election appeals. Appeals arising from the House of Representatives primaries will be heard on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, while Senate appeals are fixed for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Appeals for the House of Assembly primaries will hold on Thursday, May 21, 2026, followed by governorship appeals on Friday, May 22, 2026.
Morka, however, did not provide reasons for the timetable adjustment but said the rescheduling applies specifically to Zamfara State.
APC’s primary elections for the 2027 general elections have already begun in phases.
Based on the party’s official timetable, the primaries started on Friday, May 15, 2026, beginning with the House of Representatives contests.
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a statement released on May 14, 2026, appealed for unity among party members as the primaries commence.
