The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and dismissed claims that he has returned to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the clarification on Sunday in Ilesa, Osun State, during a leadership and stakeholders’ meeting of the ADC, which brought together members from all 332 wards in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Osun ADC publicity secretary-elect, Oluwaseun Abosede, Aregbesola also formally presented the party’s governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun election, Najeem Salaam, to party members.
Aregbesola described reports suggesting a return to the APC as “baseless and laughable,” insisting that since leaving the party more than three years ago, he has not considered going back.
He criticised the APC, arguing that it had abandoned its founding principles and failed to prioritise welfare and security, which he described as the core responsibilities of government.
He also reiterated his commitment to strengthening the ADC, saying the party has continued to grow despite attempts to undermine it.
Aregbesola urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation in their wards ahead of future elections, expressing confidence that the ADC would perform strongly in 2027.
He further referenced the exit of the Omoluabi Progressives from the APC, citing internal crises, alleged marginalisation, and lack of fair hearing as reasons for their departure.
