The Aliko Dangote Foundation’s share-grant initiative targets up to five million tertiary students and two million vulnerable women, offering eligible participants the chance to acquire additional shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery through its initial public offering (IPO).

The initiative was discussed on News Central’s Jasiri programme, and examined how the refinery’s public offer could introduce more Nigerians to share ownership, savings and investment.

Under the student component, eligible applicants who subscribe for at least 10 shares at the offer price of ₦525 each, costing ₦5,250, may qualify for an additional 10 shares funded by the foundation, subject to verification and the applicable terms.

This means a student who subscribes for 10 shares could potentially receive an additional 10, bringing the total to 20 shares if both applications are allotted.

The programme highlighted the initiative as a way to introduce young Nigerians to the capital market while encouraging them to develop financial knowledge alongside their academic qualifications.

The initiative covers eligible students in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, and applicants must meet the foundation’s age, verification and other eligibility requirements.

The programme also examined the initiative’s women’s component, which targets two million vulnerable women as part of efforts to broaden participation in investment and asset ownership.

The foundation’s terms require eligible women to meet the applicable age, income and verification criteria and subscribe for at least 10 shares through the designated application channel to qualify for consideration for an additional 10 shares.

The discussion linked the initiative to broader efforts to encourage savings and investment, particularly among people with limited access to investment opportunities.

The foundation’s share-grant initiative is separate from the public offer, and all applications remain subject to applicable eligibility, verification, and share-allocation processes.
