According to ECOWAS, Jagne’s arrival marks an important phase in the organisation’s electoral support efforts, reinforcing its commitment to promoting peaceful, credible, and transparent elections in Cabo Verde, in line with its mandate to strengthen democracy, constitutional order, and stability across the region.

Jagne, speaking to journalists upon arrival, said ECOWAS is in the island nation to observe the electoral process in close coordination with national authorities, electoral stakeholders, and partner observer missions.
He expressed hope that the elections would once again be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and reflect the best interests of the Cabo Verdean people, while reaffirming ECOWAS’ commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and confidence-building throughout the electoral period.
