Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that at least five people were killed during a shooting and hostage situation in a Kyiv residential district on Saturday.

The tragedy occurred after a gunman opened fire inside a supermarket and took several individuals captive.

Expressing his condolences to the victims’ families, Zelenskyy also noted that 10 people are currently receiving hospital treatment for various injuries and trauma.
