Barcelona manager Hansi Flick confirmed that midfielder Rodri will return to the starting lineup for Sunday’s El Clásico clash against Real Madrid after resting him during Tuesday’s 4-2 UEFA Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Flick explained that heavy national team minutes prompted his decision to start Marc Bernal in Paris, ensuring Rodri remains fresh for the high-stakes La Liga showdown where Barcelona can extend their lead over Real Madrid to nine points.
The German coach defended his rotation strategy following the end of Barcelona’s 11-match winning streak, framing the defeat at the Parc des Princes as an invaluable learning experience.

Despite equalising twice through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal, Barcelona conceded two late goals to Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz after committing costly turnover errors, though Flick emphasised that teams win titles in June rather than October.
The intense fixture also created new injury setbacks for both European giants.
Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo exited with an injury, while PSG coach Luis Enrique confirmed that key attackers Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, along with captain Marquinhos, sustained injuries that overshadowed the host’s third consecutive Champions League victory.
