Armed attackers killed two people and kidnapped Abdullahi Fanka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Rogo Local Government Area, during a violent overnight raid in Kano State on Monday.
The assault began around 11:00 p.m. when gunmen stormed the community and fired indiscriminately, scattering residents.
According to local witnesses, the two victims died while attempting to intervene and stop the heavily armed assailants from whisking Fanka away.
This latest raid marks the third major violent incident to hit neighbouring parts of Kano State within 72 hours.
Just 24 hours earlier, gunmen invaded the Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, killing APC Ward Chairman Garba Buba alongside resident Sulaiman Zunduma.
That assault directly followed a Saturday night attack in Garun Mallam Local Government Area, where bandits abducted traditional title holder Alhaji Yusif Nadabo before police and residents successfully rescued him.

The rapid succession of kidnappings and killings has severely heightened security fears across the region.
In response to the escalating violence, Minister of State for Defence Bello Muhammad Matawalle announced that the Federal Government is currently formulating a five-year defence and security plan.
Meanwhile, local police continue investigating the attacks, though state police spokespersons have not yet provided official updates regarding the ongoing search for Fanka and his captors.
