Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying he will not withdraw his endorsement.
Adeleke made this known on Sunday in Osogbo, where he received the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, and other prominent party members at the Osun State Government House.
The governor said his decision to support Tinubu was based on his commitment to keeping his word, recalling that he had previously backed the President’s preferred candidates for the leadership positions of the National Assembly.
Adeleke also recalled Tinubu’s intervention when the Osun State Government’s account was frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission shortly before the August 15 governorship election.
He said his endorsement of Tinubu was not a political stunt, stressing that he does not make empty promises.
“A lot of people thought it was politicking when I endorsed Mr President,” Adeleke said.

He explained that Tinubu had contacted him through his Chief of Staff during the contest for the leadership positions of the National Assembly and asked him to support Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas.
According to Adeleke, he subsequently mobilised members of the National Assembly from Osun State to support the President’s preferred candidates.
The governor said his actions demonstrated his commitment to keeping his word and maintaining his relationship with Tinubu.
He also urged political stakeholders in Osun State to put their differences aside and work together for the development of the state.
Speaking after the meeting, Basiru said the APC was prepared to work with Adeleke and his supporters to deliver a strong vote for Tinubu in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election.
He said the President could secure as many as 1.5 million votes in the state through collaboration between the APC and Accord.
Basiru said Adeleke had not only endorsed Tinubu but had also promised to campaign for him across the state.
“The governor, as I also said, not only endorsed, he will also be on the field to campaign vigorously for President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
The APC National Secretary said the combined strength of the APC and Accord could produce about 1.5 million votes for Tinubu, based on the parties’ performance in the recent governorship election.
Basiru also congratulated Adeleke on his victory in the governorship election and thanked him for attending the burial of his mother, late Alhaja Sidikatu Basiru.
He urged residents to embrace peace and called on members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to resolve their differences.
Basiru also appealed to political actors to move beyond disagreements arising from the governorship election and focus on improving infrastructure and living conditions in Osun State.
He said political stakeholders must work together to secure Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 presidential election.
