Kenyan police operatives have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in an attack on a convoy of vehicles carrying a political group along the Kisii–Keroka Road.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the National Police Service (NPS) Director of Corporate Communications, Muchiri Nyaga, said the incident occurred on Friday, July 3.

Nyaga said officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kisii Central, and Keumbu Police Station swiftly launched an operation that led to the suspects’ arrest.

“A more detailed analysis of the video, alongside wider investigative efforts, is underway with a view to making further arrests,” the statement said.

The NPS condemned the attack, describing political intolerance as unacceptable and warning that those responsible would be “rigorously pursued through the criminal justice system.”

Nyaga added that the Inspector General had directed the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) to expedite its assessment of all aspects of the incident, identify any operational gaps that may have contributed to the violence, and take appropriate action.

He said officers of the Internal Affairs Unit are already on the ground in the affected area.
