The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion as reconstruction work continues at the Anthony Village Bus Stop.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the project is designed to permanently address the recurring damage to the road caused by heavy rainfall.
According to him, excavation is already ongoing at the site, with the affected section set to be rebuilt using interlocking stones to improve its durability.
“The project is aimed at providing a lasting solution to the section of the road that has been repeatedly damaged by heavy rainfall. As part of the intervention, the affected section will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to improve its durability,” the statement said.
To facilitate the construction, the state government announced several traffic restrictions and advised motorists to use alternative routes.
Under the diversion plan, motorists travelling from Fadeyi and intending to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway through Anthony Village will no longer be able to use that route while reconstruction is ongoing. Similarly, drivers planning to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect Oshodi have been urged to avoid the corridor and remain on the expressway before linking up through an available road ahead.
The government also warned motorists travelling from Oshodi towards Anthony and Ikorodu Road that there would be no through passage at the project location.
“Motorists travelling from Oshodi and intending to access the Anthony-Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village should note that there is no through road at the project location,” Osiyemi said.
The commissioner advised road users to plan their journeys in advance, steer clear of the Anthony Village Bus Stop and the affected service lane where possible, and use alternative routes to minimise travel delays.
Osiyemi added that the state government appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and commuters throughout the construction period, assuring that the intervention is intended to provide a more resilient road infrastructure in the area.
