London’s Gatwick Airport experienced a water supply disruption on Sunday, leaving toilets out of service and forcing the closure of restaurants in both terminals during the peak summer travel season.
The airport said the problem, which affected both terminals, was linked to a wider water supply issue in the nearby Horley area and was under investigation.
While flight operations continued as scheduled, passengers reported being unable to wash their hands, fill water bottles or purchase hot drinks.

In a statement, Gatwick said bottled water was being distributed to passengers and staff while contingency measures were being introduced to minimise the impact and support travellers.
“A water issue in the Horley area is causing disruption at the airport this morning,” Gatwick Airport said.
“The problem is affecting water supply in both terminals and is currently under investigation.”
Regional supplier SES Water attributed the disruption to a power outage at a nearby water treatment facility, which it said had caused operational complications.
The company said some customers in the area were experiencing reduced water pressure or a temporary loss of supply and added that it was working closely with Gatwick Airport to restore normal service as quickly as possible.
