NIS Enrols Over 5,000 in UK Passport Drive

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) enrolled 516 additional applicants on Saturday across its London and Manchester processing centres, pushing total registrations past 5,000 in its UK passport intervention drive.

Manchester handled 370 of the new applicants, while London processed 146, bringing overall enrolments to 5,099 since the special exercise launched on September 7, 2026.

The NIS confirmed that passport printing and dispatch for earlier applicants continue without interruption.

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo ordered the intervention to clear backlogs of new applications, renewals, and pending cases for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

Overwhelming demand prompted officials to extend operations at both centres past their original mid-September deadline.

The NIS urged applicants to book appointments online, bring required documents to designated centres, and cooperate with staff as processing continues.
