The Kano State Police Command has recovered four stolen vehicles and handed them over to their respective owners following intelligence-led operations carried out between August 1 and September 1, 2026.
The recoveries were made during separate operations coordinated under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa.
Operatives of the Dala Area Command arrested a suspect, Surajo Usman Ubale, and recovered a suspected stolen Dangote trailer head with registration number BKD 350 XB.
In another operation, operatives of the Dawakin Kudu Division, working with the Datty Division in Lagos, traced and recovered a Toyota Matrix with registration number ABJ 398 CG, which had earlier been reported stolen.
The vehicle was subsequently handed over to its owner, Muftahu Mohammed Ola of Minna.
Similarly, operatives of the Market Division, acting on technical intelligence, arrested Abba S. Adam and recovered a maroon 2016 Hyundai Sonata with registration number GWA 93 DW.
The police said the vehicle had been stolen in Kaduna before it was recovered and handed over to its owner, Abubakar Muhd Nura.
The Special Intervention Squad also arrested Yunusa Mohammed, 33, and Muhammad Sani, 44, and recovered a golden Honda Civic with registration number ABJ 232 EY, valued at N1.5 million.
The Honda Civic, which was reportedly stolen in Sharada, Kano, was handed over to its female owner.
The command said the recoveries demonstrated the impact of sustained intelligence gathering, technical operations and collaboration between the police and members of the public.
It added that all the suspects had confessed to the crimes and would be charged to court after investigations are completed, while efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the suspected syndicate.
The command attributed the breakthrough to intelligence-led operations and community engagement, carried out in line with the strategic directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
Kiyawa said the Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their professionalism and appreciated members of the public for providing timely information.
The police also urged vehicle owners to park in secure, well-lit areas and avoid isolated locations.
Motorists were advised to install anti-theft devices, including trackers, gear locks and alarms, and avoid leaving vehicle keys, documents or valuables inside their vehicles.
The command further urged members of the public to report suspicious sales or movement of vehicles to the nearest police station.
