Midfielder Declan Rice struck a late equaliser as Arsenal secured a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in Wednesday’s Champions League clash in Munich, earning last season’s runners-up another valuable point in the league phase.
Arsenal took the lead through Eberechi Eze, who was introduced after Bukayo Saka suffered an early thigh problem. Eze made an immediate impact, finishing calmly after Martin Odegaard played him through Bayern’s defence. The goal was initially ruled offside before VAR overturned the decision.
Bayern responded 10 minutes later through Alphonso Davies. Harry Kane produced an incisive pass to release the Canadian winger, who guided it past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Kane then put Bayern ahead from the penalty spot in the second half after Jurrien Timber was penalised for handball. The England captain converted confidently to score his 16th goal in 23 appearances against Arsenal.
The strike also extended Kane’s scoring run to 10 consecutive Champions League matches, leaving him one game short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s competition record of scoring in 11 straight matches.

Arsenal refused to concede defeat, however. Substitute Viktor Gyokeres found Rice with a clever pass in the closing stages, and the midfielder fired home with eight minutes remaining to make it 2-2.
The result leaves Arsenal with seven points from their opening three Champions League league-phase matches, two points above Bayern.

Both teams had chances to win, with Manuel Neuer denying Bruno Guimaraes and Raya making a strong save from Dayot Upamecano.
Bayern entered the contest without Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala, while Arsenal had to adjust early after Saka’s injury.
The draw also marked only the second time Arsenal had dropped points in 12 matches across all competitions this season, maintaining their strong start under Mikel Arteta.
