Nigerian troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six female students of the University of Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) and a commercial driver abducted in Katsina State.
The rescue followed an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina on Monday evening. The incident happened along the Daye–Malumfashi Road in Danmusa Local Government Area.
According to a military statement, troops responded to a distress call after the vehicle came under attack.
The troops arrived at the scene and forced the kidnappers to flee.
They abandoned the victims and escaped, and the six students and the driver were rescued unhurt.
The victims later underwent preliminary security checks and medical evaluations before being handed over to designated officials for reunification with their families and university authorities.

The military said the rescue followed the prompt response of the troops to the distress call.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA is conducting ongoing security operations across the region aimed at protecting communities and rescuing victims of kidnapping and other criminal activities,” the statement said.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and other security threats across the region.
