Trump Appoints New Acting Army Secretary

President Donald Trump has named Adam Telle as the acting secretary of the US Army.

Telle is to fill the vacancy created by Dan Driscoll’s departure from the Pentagon’s top civilian Army post.

Trump announced the appointment on his Truth Social platform.

The president described Telle as “a Great Patriot, who is respected by all.”

He said the change would take effect immediately.

Telle had served as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works since August 2025, following Senate confirmation.

Before joining the Pentagon, he worked for years as a congressional aide on Capitol Hill.

Driscoll’s exit marks the latest in a series of leadership changes within the US military under Trump’s administration.

The former Army secretary, a law school classmate of Vice President JD Vance, had reportedly benefited from that personal connection.

However, he is said to have clashed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in recent months.
