The University of Ghana (UG) has directed undergraduate students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 at the end of the 2025/2026 academic year to withdraw from their programmes.
According to GraphicOnline, the university announced the directive in a public notice issued by its Academic Affairs Directorate on Thursday.
The directive follows Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017). The regulation requires students to maintain a CGPA of at least 1.00 and meet their school or departmental requirements to progress to the next academic level.

It also states that students who fail to meet the minimum CGPA requirement are not eligible for probation.

The notice stated: “Accordingly, students whose CGPAs fall below 1.00 upon receipt of all grades for their registered courses at the end of the 2025/2026 Academic Year are not in good academic standing and are required to withdraw from their programmes of study.”
Affected students have been advised to check their CGPAs through the university’s Management Information System Web. They must then log in to the Student and Academic Services Portal with their student identification numbers and PINs and select the “Withdrawal Request” option.
The university also said the relevant schools or departments would initiate the withdrawal process for students in certain programmes.
Students who need clarification have been advised to contact their respective College Academic Offices. The university’s Careers and Counselling Directorate is also available to offer support and guidance.
