The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified air operations against terrorist groups, carrying out coordinated strikes on suspected insurgent hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains in the North-East.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said several terrorists were killed during the strikes, while planned attacks were disrupted.
The air raids, conducted on May 19 under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Bukar Meram in the Southern Tumbuns and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains.

According to the Air Force, the operation followed credible intelligence and surveillance missions that identified terrorist logistics hubs, operational structures and gathering points within the enclaves.

The statement added that the operation also destroyed logistics facilities and operational structures used by the insurgents.
Speaking on the operation, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the Nigerian Air Force remained committed to sustained joint military operations aimed at eliminating terrorism and restoring peace across the country.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to sustaining coordinated joint operations with sister Services and allied partners to eliminate terrorism and restore peace across the country,” he said.
He added that intelligence-led air operations would continue to target terrorist hideouts, logistics networks and operational bases across affected regions.
