Brazil have booked a place in the last 16 of the World Cup after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Japan on Monday, thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Gabriel Martinelli.
Japan shocked the five-time world champions by taking the lead in the 29th minute through Kaishu Sano after a quick counter-attack.
Brazil struggled to respond before halftime, prompting coach Carlo Ancelotti to make an attacking change by bringing on Endrick at the start of the second half. The move paid off as Casemiro headed home the equaliser in the 56th minute from a cross by Gabriel Magalhães.
With extra time looking likely, Japan lost possession deep into stoppage time, allowing Martinelli to score the winning goal in the fifth minute of added time.
Brazil will now face either the Ivory Coast national football team or the Norway national football team in the next round.

Elsewhere, the German national football team are set to face the Paraguayan national football team, while the Moroccan national football team will take on the Dutch national football team in Monday’s other knockout matches.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said his team would approach every match with the same objective.
“When you talk about the German national team, it is all about trying to win every game,” Nagelsmann said.
The winners of the Germany-Paraguay clash will meet either France or Sweden in the last 16.
Meanwhile, Canada’s national football team, the co-hosts, became the first team to reach the last 16 after defeating South Africa’s national football team 1-0 on Sunday. Captain Stephen Eustáquio scored the winner deep into stoppage time.
