Osimhen Shines as Galatasaray Beat Spurs 3-2 to Lead Europa League Group

Victor Osimhen netted a brace as Galatasaray claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday, sending the Turkish side to the top of the table.

Galatasaray took the lead early, with Yunus Akgun scoring a stunning long-range volley in the sixth minute. Tottenham responded quickly through 18-year-old Will Lankshear, who tapped in Brennan Johnson’s cross for his first European goal. However, the home side regained control before halftime, as Osimhen netted twice in eight minutes, putting Galatasaray in a commanding 3-1 lead by the break. His first was a clinical finish just after the half-hour, followed by a clever volley from Dries Mertens’ cross

The Nigerian striker has been in fine form, now with six goals in eight appearances for Galatasaray since joining on loan from Napoli.

Although Galatasaray had chances to extend their lead, Tottenham’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when Lankshear was sent off for two quick yellow cards in the second half. Dominic Solanke pulled one back for Spurs in the 69th minute, but it wasn’t enough as Galatasaray comfortably saw out the win

The result sees Galatasaray top the group with 10 points, nearly securing a place in the knock-out play-off round, while Spurs drop to fifth after their first defeat in the competition.
