The Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael,” moonwalked its way back to the number one position at the North American box office this weekend, showing impressive staying power by pulling in $26.1 million in its fourth week of release.

The Lionsgate film, which stars the legendary singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in his debut role, has now amassed a staggering $703.8 million globally.

While the project has drawn scrutiny for omitting the sexual abuse allegations that clouded the pop icon’s later years, fans have continued to flock to theatres, propelled by the enduring popularity of Jackson’s catalogue.

Debuting in third place was the micro-budget horror film “Obsession,” which over-performed with a $16.1 million opening weekend against a tiny $750,000 production budget.

Warner Bros.’ action sequel “Mortal Kombat II” fell to fourth place with $13.4 million, while Amazon MGM’s quirky family mystery “The Sheep Detectives,” starring Hugh Jackman, rounded out the top five with $9.3 million.
