A 17-year-old girl died in France while celebrating the national football team’s World Cup quarterfinal victory over Morocco, emergency services confirmed on Friday.
The teenager fell from a truck and suffered fatal injuries when the vehicle ran her over in Aulnoye-Aymeries, a town near the northern city of Maubeuge.
Paramedics declared the girl dead at the scene, while authorities hospitalised another teenager who witnessed the accident and suffered from severe shock.
Police currently hold the truck driver in custody.
