Manchester City launched the Enzo Maresca era with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, scoring two late goals at the Etihad Stadium to secure three points.
Maresca took charge of his first Premier League match following Pep Guardiola’s decade-long reign, and the team staged a tense late comeback after trailing for most of the contest.
Bournemouth took the lead in the 26th minute when Marcus Tavernier capitalised on defensive hesitation to finish Evanilson’s cross.
City struggled to find cohesion for long stretches of the match, but Maresca shifted the momentum by introducing French playmaker Rayan Cherki late in the second half.

The substitution paid off in the 84th minute as Marc Guehi headed home Cherki’s corner kick to equalise.
In stoppage time, Cherki set up Josko Gvardiol, who slotted home the winning goal to seal a memorable debut victory for the new manager.
