Portuguese forward Rafael Leao announced his departure from AC Milan after seven seasons with the Serie A club.

Following Milan’s 2-0 victory over Venezia on Friday, the winger confirmed his exit, with Turkish champions Galatasaray expected to sign him for a reported 45 million euros ($52 million).

Leao watched the match from the sidelines as club-record signing Goncalo Ramos scored his first home goal to break the deadlock.

The Portuguese forward ends his tenure at San Siro with 80 goals in 291 appearances, having played a pivotal role in Milan’s 2021-22 Serie A title victory.

However, questions regarding his commitment and falling goal production overshadowed the final stages of his time in Italy.

In an emotional post-match statement, Leao expressed his enduring affection for the team, stating that his love for the club will never leave him.

Milan is actively reshaping its roster under new manager Ruben Amorim following a disappointing end to last season, where the club missed out on Champions League qualification.

The Rossoneri invested 74 million euros to bring in Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain, securing victories in both of their opening matches of the new domestic campaign.
