The White House has launched a 24-hour digital channel called “Trump TV: The Essentials Station” following a growing dispute with major United States (US) news organisations.
The channel went live on Monday through the White House’s official YouTube channel and website.
The White House says the platform will stream “top videos, major remarks, and must-see highlights” from the Trump administration. It will run around the clock and be updated in real time.

Rather than operating as a traditional television network, Trump TV is a government-run digital stream. It features selected footage of President Donald Trump and his administration, including speeches, announcements and other public appearances.
Its first programmes included an archive of Trump’s July 3 speech at Mount Rushmore. It also featured footage from his January 2025 inauguration.
The launch came on the same day CNN, MS NOW and Politico filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration.
The three news organisations are challenging the decision to bar their journalists from the White House. They argue that the restrictions violate their First Amendment rights and have asked a national judge to restore their access.
A hearing on their request was scheduled for Wednesday.
Trump announced the media ban on Friday and accused the three organisations of publishing what he described as “fake news”.
His administration has argued that the First Amendment protects press freedom but does not guarantee individual news organisations access to the White House.
The launch of Trump TV gives the White House a direct platform to distribute its own footage and administration messaging. It also allows the administration to reach audiences without relying on traditional television networks or the White House press pool.
The White House promoted the channel as a platform bringing together the administration’s “biggest moments”.
Critics, however, have described the initiative as an attempt to create a government-controlled alternative to independent news coverage.
