Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has revealed his shock over the court order to arrest him for tax evasion.

Speaking for the first time since the Court order, Okocha told local media in Nigeria that he was never contacted by anybody regarding income taxes.

“I only read about it on the pages of newspapers,” Okocha said.

“No one contacted me. As a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I know very well that nobody is above the law.

“But honestly speaking, I was never contacted by anybody on issues before the court order.

“It has been settled, but I won’t be able to give you details.”

A Lagos High Court had earlier in the month issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the former Super Eagles star, for failure to appear in court to answer why he had allegedly failed to pay his income tax.
