Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said the current administration is delivering projects that are improving lives across Nigeria, while praising ongoing infrastructure developments in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Akpabio spoke on Thursday during the commissioning of the Jahi–Gwarimpa interchange and road project in Abuja, where he commended the quality and impact of ongoing infrastructure delivery in the capital city.

“Since I was born, this is the first time I’ve seen any administration of a local government or FCT or even a state doing commissioning of projects for 31 days. You must be commended for this,” he said.

He praised the projects being executed in the FCT, describing them as meaningful developments that are changing lives beyond Abuja residents.

“You are not just commissioning projects, you are commissioning quality projects and meaningful projects that have a lot in changing the lives of Nigerians,” he added.

Akpabio, who said he was representing the President, noted that the administration is satisfied with developments in the FCT and across the country.

“I’m here to represent the President and Commander-in-Chief. He is very excited and happy with what is going on in the FCT,” he said.

He also referenced visits by top government officials, including the Vice President, who have participated in commissioning projects under the current administration.

Akpabio praised the improvement in road infrastructure, saying even international figures had previously expressed admiration for routes leading into the city.

He further claimed that reforms under President Bola Tinubu have improved state revenues, allowing governors to fund projects and pay salaries more easily without borrowing.

According to him, more than 30 state governors are aligned with the current administration due to its performance in governance and economic management.

“Today we have over 30 governors out of 36… and more are coming,” he said.

Akpabio added that ongoing fiscal reforms and legislative efforts are repositioning Nigeria for stronger governance and long-term development.

He urged the media to report accurately and not focus only on negative stories.

“Members of the press, please report accurately. Don’t wait for something to be bad before you report,” he said.
