American Rapper Jay-Z has been announced as a performer at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, scheduled for February 14, 2027, in Los Angeles.
The NFL announced the news on Monday, according to an AFP report. Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, has produced the Super Bowl halftime show every year since 2020. The company selects the performers, but Jay-Z has never taken the stage himself.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had long hoped Jay-Z would perform.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said in a joint statement.
“I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage,” he added.

The NFL has not confirmed whether Jay-Z will be the only headliner at the halftime show.
The announcement came days after Jay-Z performed two shows at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, which will host the Super Bowl. The concerts marked the end of a year-long tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, said performing at the Super Bowl would be another career milestone.
“From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said.
“Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true,” he added.
Jay-Z is married to pop superstar Beyoncé. His recent Los Angeles concerts also featured appearances by John Legend, DJ Khaled, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Their appearances have raised interest in the star power Jay-Z could bring to the Super Bowl halftime show.
