President Bola Tinubu on Saturday launched his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna by accusing his political opponents of creating the country’s current economic hardship.

“I hear my opponent talking about hunger and poverty,” Tinubu told supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag-off.

“Who created it? They did. They created the hunger. They created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it.”

The president, who arrived in Kaduna with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, said his administration was focused on delivering prosperity and continuity.

He pointed to regular salary payments and the work of APC governors as evidence of progress.

“We pay salaries regularly. Our governors are working. I am proud of them,” he said.

“They are developing. To you, the children of our country, it’s a promise of the second time. Prosperity.”

Tinubu described the opposition as motivated by anger.

“Our opponents are angry because they are failures. They have nothing to offer you but heckling,” he said.

“We have prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery, and opportunity.”

He urged the crowd to ensure they have their Permanent Voter Cards.

“Do you have your PVC? Do you have your PVC? Show your hands. Your hands up,” he said, calling for a massive turnout on January 16, 2027.

“APC all the way. APC for our governors. APC for our senators. APC for our honourable House of Representatives and all Houses of Assembly.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by his wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, also attended the event.
