United States (US) President Donald Trump has unexpectedly returned to the White House after cutting short his weekend stay at Camp David as tensions rose in the Middle East.
Trump had been expected to remain at the presidential retreat in rural Maryland until Sunday.
However, the administration gave no explanation for the change in plans.

On Saturday, the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthis said the Iran-backed group had fired a ballistic missile at Riyadh.
The missile was reportedly launched at dawn after a fire broke out near the Saudi capital’s international airport.
The development prompted new security warnings from the United States.
The State Department and several US embassies issued alerts to Americans in the region.
The warnings cited “the potential for unforeseen escalation.”
They also noted that “Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports.”
“This military conflict has the potential to escalate rapidly,” the State Department warned.
It also urged Americans outside the Middle East to “seriously reconsider travel to and through the region.”
The latest developments have raised concerns about a wider escalation involving Iran-backed groups and US allies in the region.
Trump’s early return to Washington came against that backdrop, although the administration did not link his schedule change directly to the security developments.
