The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, has arrived in Cotonou, Benin, ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Romuald Wadagni.
According to Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, who announced Shettima’s arrival in a statement on X, said the Vice President is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the ceremony scheduled for Sunday, May 24, at the Presidential Palace in Cotonou.

On arrival at the Cardinal Bernadin Gantin International Airport, he was received by Benin Republic’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Olushegun Adjadi Bakari, alongside top Nigerian diplomats, including the Ambassador-designate to Benin Republic, Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim.


“The Vice President lauded the harmonious relationship that has existed over the years between Nigeria and Benin Republic,” the statement said.



He is expected to return to Nigeria after the inauguration.
