Nigerian activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has slammed Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over his remarks on the politicisation of insecurity in Nigeria.
Wike had on Tuesday urged Nigerians to exercise patience over the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, adding that the issue should not be politicised.
“We are all concerned, but let us not politicise issues. That is what I will not support. We are all concerned about the security situation and how the teachers and students should be released,” Wike said.
Sowore criticised Wike on Tuesday, describing him as a product of insecurity.
“He’s a foolish man, and I’m saying that in front of his office. He’s lucky that I didn’t meet him here when he was saying that rubbish. Revolution now,” said Sowore.
“How can you say that you should not politicise when he himself is a product of the policies of insecurity? Himself. So, you know, if he had said that while I was there, I would have told him to his face that you are a foolish man.”
Sowore also criticised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for promising to deploy 1,000 forest guards and 5,000 CCTV cameras without following it up with action.

“But ask yourself, what happened to the deployment of the 5,000 CCTV cameras in Politu State that he promised? I watched or I listened to radio and TV today, and they said none has been provided. So when somebody has nothing to offer, they just keep making bogus promises,” he added.
“Why do you need 1,000 forest guards when you have millions of policemen? Well, I would say thousands of policemen who are, I do, fighting terror, I mean, fighting protesters. Why don’t you just deploy these guys? Look at them. You know, and send them over to Oyo State until they retrieve the kids. You don’t let them come back.”
He also vowed not to allow people who failed in public office to contest political positions when he becomes president.
“You see, if I could have my way, or if I would have my way, anybody who is president of Nigeria at this time should never be allowed to run in any office again based on their failure. If you are governor of a state like Oyo State, you should not even go near the presidency,” he added.
“You should not collect the form to become president. Because you have failed already, and you should not enjoy any kind of promotion. Whether it’s social or political, you know. We do that in the educational sector. If you fail a class, you have to repeat it. You are not promoted to the next class.”
